Women On Tap opportunity: Join the team for 2019

2019 is going to be BIG! We are looking for 3 new volunteers to join the small existing team in 3 specific new roles.

We’ve had a superb year with Women On Tap, and we are now planning next year and more specifically the next festival. It will take place 1-5 May in Harrogate and we have huge plans! We have started a process to recruit sponsorship partners for 2019 with the aim of bringing together a northern powerhouse of beer brands. We’ve already signed-up four very exciting big players in beer and hospitality – including a significant headliner – and we are still in talks with a number of other key brands.

Having grown the festival from 2017 by more than 100% we are ready to do the same again. Given this we are now looking to further expand the Women On Tap team for 2019.

What is Women On Tap?

  • A year-round programme of events showcasing exceptional local beer, creative talent & inspirational women
  • An annual 5-day region-wide beer and arts festival incorporating events, tutored tastings, panel discussions and interactive experiences
  • A collaborative project in consultation with leading beer industry experts, writers, musicians and creative arts experts
  • A Community Interest Company created to celebrate the best of our region’s people, produce and hospitality

What we’ve achieved to date:

2017

  • Women on Tap concept founded by Rachel Auty
  • Delivered on a ‘shoestring’ personal budget

2018

  • Incorporated as a Community Interest Company and certified Social Enterprise
  • Achieved and exceeded crowdfunding target within a week of launch
  • Hosted a 5-day series of events throughout the region
  • Established a successful social media campaign
  • Attracted extensive media coverage
  • Recruited leading beer industry influencers

The roles

We now need a few more people to join us – me, Nichola and Andrew – as part of Team WOT for the 2019 festival and possibly beyond. Specifically, we are looking for someone for each of the following roles from December 2018 to the end of the festival in May 2019:

Festival Assistant

To support the organisation and delivery of the main festival programme and venues including venue, artist and event liaison; admin and delivery; digital content.

This person will ideally have some experience of similar event coordination, be local to Harrogate or Knaresborough, and able and willing to visit venues as required, and to assist with the main festival in May.

Conference Assistant

To support the organisation and delivery of a 1-day conference as part of WoTFest19. This will include speaker liaison, admin, general coordination, and on-the-day event support.

This person will ideally have some experience of conference-type events, be local to Harrogate or Knaresborough, and able and willing to assist with the main conference in May.

Social Media Assistant

To actively develop the established social profiles across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, building momentum around the brand in the lead up to the main festival, promoting our festival sponsors, and helping to manage sharing of content across the festival period itself.

This person will already be a dab hand at engaging and varied social media activity and can work 100% remotely so could be based anywhere.

Time commitment wise, each role may be a just a few hours a week initially; more leading up to and at event times. All roles will be working under the guidance of the existing team. Currently, roles are voluntary but some reasonable travel expenses may be paid.

Oh, just one final thing. It’s really important that you align with our core values that sit at the heart of why we exist. We are open and inclusive and anyone who shares what we stand for is warmly welcomed and supported. We are also firmly focused on our underpinning goals and we aim to avoid any distractions from that.

For the right people it’s an incredibly rewarding project and there’s loads of fun along the way. Oh also, you get to drink beer and meet lots of very awesome inspiring people. Tough gig, huh?
